Back to the coding trenches: A look at my journey as a UX Designer at AltSchool

I'll be the first to admit that I've had a bit of a rocky journey with coding. I've been off and on in this journey since mid-2019. And let's just say it's been a roller coaster ride filled with equal parts frustration, confusion, and self-doubt (read about some aspects of my journey here)

I rebooted my coding journey last year at AltSchool but I had to pause it for numerous personal reasons. But now, I'm back at it again! and I'm feeling cautiously optimistic about it. Of course, I'm also feeling a little bit like a fraud - I mean, who takes this long to learn how to code? But hey, at least I'm giving it another shot, right? ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Understanding my "why"

I know that coding is a valuable skill for a UX designer to have. It allows me to understand the technical limitations of what I'm designing and to communicate better with developers.

Plus, there's something oddly satisfying about getting code to work after hours of staring at a screen, feeling like you're going cross-eyed.

Saddled up

So, here I am, back in the coding trenches, and I'm sure I'll be making plenty of mistakes along the way. But I'm trying to approach it all with a sense of humor and a willingness to learn. And who knows? Maybe this time around, things will finally click for me.

So, to all of my fellow newbie coders out there - don't give up! It's okay if you don't get it right away, and it's okay if you need to take a break and come back to it later. We'll get there eventually, one step at a time.
